St. Andrew’s congregation is more than willing to share the good news of God’s love with each other by offering hospitality in joy and comfort. Through meals during sickness and death, cards and telephone calls of encouragement and good wishes, we reach out to members in our congregation.
As we practice serving, there is a time to grow in faith. We provide for the needs of those who make known special requests by volunteering to do odd jobs; providing transportation for grocery shopping, doctors’ visits, and church events; making visits during hospitalization or home confinement; and providing nursery attendants during services.
We live in God’s love while enjoying fellowship with others in the congregation. The CATS trips, family fellowships, special dinners, Christmas brunch, Wednesday night suppers, and Hanging of the Green provide opportunities for Christian fellowship at St. Andrew.
Wednesday Night Fellowship – Faith, Food, And Fun
From August through May and other times during the summer, we gather at 6 p.m. for a pot-luck meal and fellowship before Wednesday night activities.

Church Picnic
St. Andrew hosts the annual picnic in the fall when we invite our friends from First Presbyterian and Westminster Presbyterian in Decatur to share food and conversation in a relaxed setting at a friend’s home or at a local park.

Christmas Brunch
On the Sunday before Christmas, St. Andrew meets at 8:30 a.m. in the fellowship hall to share a pot-luck brunch. At this time, we also recognize our church staff with Christmas gifts. Friends and family are invited to attend.

C.A.T.S. (Carefree Adult Traveling Society)
C.A.T.S. trips provide opportunities for members and friends of St. Andrew to come together in Christian fellowship while visiting scenic and historic sites. Usually, three day-trips are planned annually. Travel is typically by private cars; however, for some events a van or bus may be used. If you are carefree and like to explore the beauty and history of our local and surrounding communities, please join us.

Hanging of the Green
To prepare for the Advent season, we meet on the Wednesday afternoon before the first Sunday of Advent to decorate the church for the season. After decorations are up, we gather for a soup supper and then for a short Advent service in the sanctuary.

Ice Cream Social
Each summer, usually in June, the St. Andrew family gathers at a member’s home to enjoy an ice cream social. Family and friends from First Presbyterian and Westminster Presbyterian in Decatur are invited to fellowship with us.

Small Groups
Are you looking for a way to connect more deeply with others at St. Andrew? If so then St. Andrew’s small group ministry is for you. These small groups may focus on a variety of functions such as study, prayer, tasks, caring and support, or accountability and may run for a short term or an extended period of time.

Presbyterian Women
The Presbyterian Women’s group meets on the first Tuesday of the month, September through November and January through April at 7 p.m. in the church fellowship hall for Bible study, fellowship, and refreshments. In December and May, the women enjoy dinner out as a group. All women of the church and friends are invited to participate in the meetings, social events, and volunteer activities. The group supports several charities in the community, the U.S. and around the world.

Presbyterian Men
Presbyterian Men meet quarterly with all churches in North Alabama Presbytery. Presbyterian Men also help with work days at the church as well as with breakfasts and dinners when needed including a Christmas Eve dinner for the congregation. Yoga
Our gentle yoga class meets in the fellowship hall at 8:30am on Thursday mornings. The instructor, Nancy Hayes, is a yogi master who has studied and taught many types of yoga. Each of her classes is different, like a “box of chocolates”. All church members are welcome; the cost is free.

This is a group of men and women that meets every Thursday morning at 8:45 a.m. in the church library to help with the work of the church and to enjoy fellowship. We fold the bulletins for the upcoming Sunday service and add the weekly inserts. We swap stories (and laughter) and discuss celebrations and concerns. In addition to the serious business of helping the church get ready for Sunday, this is a time to share and enjoy fellowship together.
